Bangladesh Battles Dengue Outbreak: BDRCS Mobilizes for Urgent Support

IFRC

As of 25 July 2023, 154 fatalities and 29,710 cases of dengue had been reported in Bangladesh, indicating a concerning caseload. The government has established a separate dengue cell and designated a hospital as a dedicated facility in response to the outbreak. The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), to support the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), is mobilising over 150 volunteers for awareness campaigns and support in high-risk areas. BDRCS is actively integrating PGI elements to ensure inclusivity, focusing on disadvantaged groups. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and partner national societies of BDRCS in Bangladesh are closely monitoring and providing technical guidance.
